Choice of materials

Leather
By choosing leather, you are choosing a product that will last for generations. Plus, you're supporting a circular economy because leather is a residual product
from the food industry. Make a sustainable choice and invest in a timeless
piece that will bring you years of enjoyment.

Choice of materials

We consciously choose sustainable materials that have a long lifespan. This enables us to cut waste and protect the environment by reducing the amount going to landfill.

Short supply chain

We work with local producers to reduce transport kilometres and our carbon footprint. This way, we guarantee a short supply chain and minimise our impact on the environment.

Environmental standards

Transparency is our watchword. Our furniture meets strict environmental standards, verified by independent bodies.

Traceability

Our leather comes exclusively from European cattle. A unique registration system enables us to precisely trace each individual hide back to its European country of origin.

Leather is one of the oldest forms of upcycling
Upcycling before it was trendy

Archaeological finds show that our ancestors were already using animal hides to produce clothes and tools many thousands of years ago. This makes leather one of the first materials to be used by humans. Advances in livestock farming mean there is an abundant supply of cowhide available today.

From byproduct to sustainable product

No cow is ever slaughtered for its hide. Leather is a residual product of the food industry, from where it is transformed into a durable material using sustainable methods. We give the hides left over from the production of meat and dairy products a new lease of life as high-quality, sustainable products. Therefore, unlike most other coverings that are often made from fossil-based raw materials and are difficult to recycle, leather is a sustainable choice for both you and the planet.

An investment for life

The primary function of an animal’s skin is to shield or protect the animal. An extremely compact fibre structure provides extraordinary strength and flexibility. Through the tanning process, we preserve these natural properties, ensuring that the lifespan of leather furniture lasts into the decades. It means that not only the upholstery, but also the underlying structure of the furniture will last longer. It is an investment that will pay for itself, both in terms of sustainability and aesthetics

Complete transparency

With us, you know exactly where your leather comes from. Thanks to a water-tight tracing system, we can follow the entire journey of each hide, from the farm, through the tannery to your home.

Why traceability is important:

  • Quality: Knowing the origin of the hide enables us to guarantee the quality of the end product.
  • Sustainability: Traceability helps to ensure sustainable and ethical production.
  • Transparency: You can choose our products with confidence, knowing that they have been produced responsibly, both in terms of animal welfare and leather production
  • Responsible production

Our traceability system:

  • Government registration: Each animal is registered with the government.
  • Laser codes: This registration translates into a unique laser code for each hide.
  • Barcodes: These laser codes are converted into barcodes for easy tracking.

European regulations:

We comply with all European rules and regulations on leather traceability.

The European origin of our hides provides additional assurance. Europe pursues strict legislation on animal welfare.

Environmental standards::

Our leather meets the following environmental standards:

Solid wood

Our furniture is made of solid beech, oak and walnut. These wood species are known for their natural strength and durability.
Solid wood has a look and character of its own. The natural wood grain and colour variations make each piece of furniture unique. What’s more, solid wood ages gracefully, meaning that your piece of furniture will only gain in beauty over the years.

Ceramic

Ceramic as a material is known for its durability and longevity. Once produced, a ceramic tabletop is virtually indestructible. However, production itself is an energy-intensive process that entails a significant environmental footprint. Fortunately, ceramic is easily recyclable, meaning that it can be re-purposed at the end of its life cycle.
